Hey, Look Who Agrees with Holland Cooke!

I was catching up on my reading today when I came across this Peggy Noonan piece from the October 2nd Wall Street Journal.  Noonan, a fully-accredited conservative, expresses concern about violent fall-out from the extreme rhetoric (on both sides of the aisle) that is currently toxifying public debate.  Noonan is a veteran political insider, and her column does carry a whiff of nostalgia for the good ol’ days when Sacred Gatekeepers decided what constituted legitimate news and opinion.

Still, it’s worth reading, if only as a reminder that there is more to building a meaningful legacy — as a professional and a human being – than running up huge numbers at any cost.  As Noonon notes, “In a way you’re writing your own obit every day. You’re making the lead paragraph positive and constructive, or not. Someone’s going to sum you up one day. You want to live your professional life in a way that they can write good things.”
