Salon.com is running a remarkable three-part profile of Glenn Beck, tracing his rise from small town radio geek to cultural phenomenon.  Part One  follows Beck from his childhood in Mt. Vernon, Washington to his Morning Zoo days.  The piece is based on tons of original research, including interviews with many of Beck’s friends and former colleagues.  It’s packed with eye-catching detail and makes for a gripping read.
